LIFT

This week I have been assisting with assessments for a program titled LIFT. LIFT is a program that is currently being used as a study. The study is going to assess whether or not an 8-week long fitness class, will improve the balance and motor skills of elderly adults. The goal of this program is to help older adults live in their homes as long as possible, by strengthening their muscles and joints. This is a program, that I hope to see growth in. I am so excited to see how the individuals in this program will progress. Everyone that is enrolled in this program seems to be eager to participate, and I think that the outcome will be great for all.

Customer Service

Every person who encounters people at restaurants, expects to receive quality customer service from the employees. Have you ever thought that there are several different kinds of customer service. An individual can receive customer service from a coworker or service worker within their business. This week I had the opportunity to assist with a class that was to teach people about quality customer service. There are several things that go into the quality of customer service the individual is producing. Their appearance, dress, tone of voice, and facial expressions all affect the quality of a person's customer service. This was a very informative class to be a part of!

Chicks!!

Several schools in the Charlottesville and Albemarle area joined with the Albemarle Cooperative Extension Office to complete an embryology project. The embryology project came to an end on May 20th. Some schools were able to find their chicks homes. While some chicks were brought back to the office, which meant there was an overload of cuteness with 32 fluffy chicks. The chicks were then donated to a local camp, Triple C Camp.

About Me

Hello everyone!
My name is Shania and I am interning at the Albemarle Cooperative Extension. I am recent graduate from Liberty University where I obtained a degree in Health Promotion. Growing up, I participated in several workshops and camps that were offered by Madison Cooperative Extension Office. I am very passionate about the development and health of children. There are several workshops that will be offered this summer, that I will have the opportunity to plan and implement to children with the Albemarle and Charlottesville area. From this internship, I am hoping to impact children's lives through health, 4-H Camp, workshops, and other programs in a way that will inspire them to live healthy lives.
